First Technologies Management Ltd was founded and set up in March 2007 by Neil Chapman, a former civil servant, and outsourced resources to the american giants of EDS. Having worked with the Inland Revenue and DWP in various management roles, he left EDS in February 2005 after 19 continuous years working in IT, to try his hand at freelancing.

After initially providing services (under the guise of an Umbrella company) for the NHS (Connecting for Health) in Leeds from March 2005 to March 2007, due to the variety of tasks involved Neil decided it would give him more control to trade as a limited company and so FTM was set up.

FTM then progressed southwards from Leeds to the Eastern & Coastal Kent NHS and from August 2007 they have been contracting with BT in Gateshead on a government project aimed at providing a completely integrated Land Registry system in Scotland.
